One of Africa’s leading transport companies, BHL Group recently imported a record 150 new truck horses to augment its transport operations in southern Africa. The 150 trucks, with a total value of more than N$98 million, were imported through the Walvis Bay port from China onboard the vessel, Run Fu 8 Voyage.
The truck make, Sinotruk HOWO-NX is a heavy-duty truck brand produced by China National Heavy Duty Truck Group Co. (CNHTC), the largest heavy-duty truck manufacturer in China. The HOWO-NX series is designed for a wide range of applications, including long-haul transportation, construction, and mining.
BHL Group was established in Zambia in 2004 and has since grown to operate in eight countries across the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region. The company offers a wide range of transportation services, including bulk haulage, abnormal load transportation, project logistics, and warehousing. BHL’s customer base includes some of the largest mining companies in Africa, as well as other major industrial and commercial clients. The company has a strong reputation for providing reliable, efficient, and cost-effective transportation services.
Local logistics company, Woker Freight Services, handled the Customs clearance and related import and transit formalities. One of the challenges of this large shipment was coordinating the offloading of the trucks and finding suitable storage. This was quickly solved by parking the trucks in port in a temporary storage area until they could be driven out. The next round of imports for BHL includes some 150 new trailers to go with the truck horses.
The trucks are destined for BHL’s Zambia office, and will further grow it’s already extensive fleet, and an expansive footprint across Africa.
